Lucy Tarrant
Lucy is the managing director of Cognitive Law. She has over 20 years of financial and contractual dispute resolution experience, 17 of those years as a qualified Solicitor. Lucy has worked both in private practice as a litigation partner, employment solicitor and as in-house counsel.
Lucy’s career has been one of firsts. The beginning of her career set the tone when she became the first ever trainee solicitor at Lloyds TSB Bank plc having put together a proposal of how to structure a training contract. That also rewarded her with sponsorship by the Bank to complete the LPC at the College of Law. Another first was Lucy’s appointment as the first in-house lawyer at the G2 Group, affording her a unique insight into the recruitment industry and invaluable hands-on experience.
Lucy’s latest first has been setting up Cognitive Law as an ABS, to re-think the delivery of legal services to corporate clients. During Lucy’s career she has: advised on contractual matters involving personal service companies, umbrella companies, RPOs, and payroll companies; acted for high street banks, asset based lenders, PLCs, limited companies, partnerships and sole traders; and handled a variety of disputes including contractual claims, financial services disputes, insolvency, invoice discounting and recruitment.
Lucy specialises in providing commercial legal services to the recruitment sector and focuses on a wide variety of contractual issues, prioritising dispute prevention before dispute resolution. She has been praised for her straightforward, no-nonsense approach to dispute resolution, as well as for the support that she provides to her clients.
